A blog dedicated to the often ridiculous, frequently irritating and occasionally heart-warming realities of single-parenting. Because, let’s face it, nobody really wants to hear about how perfect motherhood is…

I’m a Sunday Times Top Ten bestselling crime novelist, and I also write for children and young adults over at Wattpad, where I’ve somehow managed to persuade over 7 million people to read them.

I spent 7 years as a writer for theatre, accruing several national and fringe awards for playwriting. I also spent 3.5 years as a marketing manager and some 3 years as head of the copywriting department for a global translation firm.

I suck at laundry, organising items for school, and making sure he has his homework. We generally bond over gaming, though I have been known to go actually mad when subjected to Minecraft stream-of-consciousness for several hours. I swear in front of him when I shouldn’t, and we are pretty much always late for school.

And given that R is really the main character of this blog, he deserves an “about” too. He is a nine-year-old super-nerd, who loves computer games, bows and arrows (toy ones so far…), being trapped under duvets, pizza, and puns (woohoo!). Also standard kid stuff like swimming, playing in parks and getting irritated with his mother.
